WILSONS LEATHER MAKES DONATION TO THE NASCAR FOUNDATION IN HONOR OF NASCAR DAY

CHARLOTTE, N.C. (June 13, 2006) – This spring, select Wilsons Leather stores were serving up more than just NASCAR apparel, they were handing out 2006 NASCAR Day lapel pins. And at the 3M Performance 400 Presented by Post-it Picture Paper pre-race ceremony at Michigan International Speedway, Kasey Kahne accepted a check from Wilsons Leather on behalf of The NASCAR Foundation.

Wilsons Leather, a NASCAR licensee and a two-year veteran of the NASCAR Day program, spread the NASCAR Day message by providing NASCAR Day pins to customers at 300 locations across the country when NASCAR merchandise was purchased.

“As a company, our employees enjoy participating in NASCAR Day and we are proud to support The NASCAR Foundation and their charitable initiatives,” said Mike Searles, Chief Executive Officer for Wilsons Leather.  “The NASCAR Day program gives fans a fun way to raise money for some worthy causes, and to celebrate the NASCAR spirit,” said Ben Barras, General Manager of Wilsons Leather Wholesale Division, who will present the check on behalf of Wilsons Leather in Michigan.

NASCAR Day, which just wrapped up its third year, is an annual celebration of the NASCAR spirit. NASCAR fans, corporations, schools and organizations across the country are encouraged to donate $5 and all participants receive a collectible 2006 NASCAR Day lapel pin for their donation. Over 100,000 NASCAR Day pins were sold online, and The NASCAR Foundation signed up more than 3,000 corporate locations participating in NASCAR Day.  In addition, 27 Governor’s Offices have declared May 19 as NASCAR Day in their home states.
