MYRTLE BEACH, S.C. (March 27, 2006) – The Members Club at Grande Dunes and the
Marina Inn at Grande Dunes will host the inaugural Burroughs and Chapin Charity
Golf Tournament October 17-18, 2006. The tournament will benefit the Victory
Junction Gang Camp, a year round facility which enriches the lives of children
with chronic medical conditions or serious illnesses by providing life-changing
camping experiences that are exciting, fun and empowering, in a safe and
medically sound environment. Victory Junction Gang Camp is supported by the
NASCAR Foundation.
The Burroughs and Chapin Golf Tournament begins Tuesday, October 17, with the
opportunity for participants and guests to meet celebrities, business leaders
and other golfers during the “Mingle at the Tiki Bar” party at the Marina Inn at
Grande Dunes from 7 to 10 p.m. On Wednesday, October 18, the captain’s choice
tournament tees off with a 12 p.m. shotgun start at the Members Club at Grande
Dunes, the Myrtle Beach area’s newest private course co-designed by PGA Hall of
Fame inductee Nick Price and award-winning architect Craig Schreiner. After
golf, participants will gather at the clubhouse for an awards ceremony and check
presentation.
“Burroughs & Chapin Company is excited about this new golf
tournament to benefit Victory Junction Gang Camp. We encourage others in our
local and surrounding communities to show their support as well,” said Burroughs
& Chapin Company Board Chairman J. Egerton Burroughs. “Victory Junction Gang
Camp has helped so many children living with life-threatening illnesses and
their families cope through very difficult times. We hope the proceeds raised
from this new event will help to enhance the wonderful and necessary impact that
the Victory Junction Gang Camp can have on others in the near future and
long-term.”
Corporations can register for one of three sponsorships and receive
recognition as a sponsor; identification on all tournament collateral material;
one, two or three teams in the golf tournament; invitations to the “Mingle at
the Tiki Bar” party; one night lodging at the Marina Inn at Grande Dunes or the
Myrtle Beach Marriott for each golfer; and a deluxe gift package for each
participant.
Kyle and Pattie Petty created Victory Junction to honor their son Adam and to
help children with serious illnesses relax, make new friends with similar
illnesses and experience the fun and memories of summer camp. “We are thrilled
to be a part of this exciting event and hope it will give many deserving
children and families a once in a lifetime camping experience,” said Kyle and
Pattie Petty. “We truly appreciate everyone’s efforts to make this charity golf
tournament a success.”

About
the Victory Junction Gang Founded by NASCAR driver Kyle Petty and his wife Pattie in
honor of their late son Adam, the Victory Junction Gang Camp is a year-round
facility serving children with chronic medical conditions or serious
illnesses. The children, primarily from North Carolina, South Carolina and
Virginia, are between the ages of 7 and 15. Victory Junction’s 72-acre
site has 32 buildings, including a dining hall, water park, Adam’s Race Shop,
theater, equestrian center, medical center and 16 camper cabins. For each
of 9 weeks during the summer, children suffering from similar medical issues
gather to kick back, relax and have some fun. Campers may also participate
in family weekends during the spring and fall. Personal stories of
struggle and triumph are shared by campers in an atmosphere where they are safe,
respected and loved.
The Victory Junction Gang Camp, a charity supported by the NASCAR Foundation,
opened its doors to campers on June 20, 2004 and is free to children and their
families. For more information, please visit www.victoryjunction.org.
