The Armed Forces Foundation (AFF) offers vital assistance to active-duty and retired personnel, National Guard, Reserve Components and military families. As soon as a wounded service member arrives at the hospital, the Armed Forces Foundation steps in to assist the family in traveling to his or her side and provides lodging for them to stay with their loved one. The foundation also provides financial assistance, therapeutic recreational and outreach programs, outdoor hunting programs, military family events, a national education initiative surrounding Veterans Day and Christmas toy drives. With the recent launch of the Help Save Our Troops campaign, the AFF is working to educate all Americans about the invisible wounds of war – Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder and Traumatic Brain Injury – to help end the military suicide epidemic. The AFF lives their motto of “Serving those who Serve” by providing well-rounded programs of assistance and support for military families and advocating on their behalf.
Troops to the Track:
In 2010, a small partnership began between the Armed Forces Foundation (AFF) and National Association for Stock Car Auto Racing (NASCAR). The basis of the partnership was to find a way to give back to give back to the service members who have fought for and protected the freedoms all Americans enjoy. Out of this, Troops to the Track became a real program.
At first the program was small, the AFF and NASCAR brought wounded warriors from around the United States to get a behind the scenes view of NASCAR at various races.
Now in its fourth year, Troops to the Track has built upon the success of the past three years to become a signature initiative to recognize the efforts of our service members. This season, the program has expanded to 24 races around the United States and will allow for over 250 wounded service members, active duty troops, warriors in transition, veterans and military families throughout the country to enjoy a special day of activities at the racetrack.
The AFF is proud to partner up with NASCAR in “Serving those who Serve.”
