NASCAR fans now have the opportunity to do two good things at once – buy a cherished collectible, plus lend a hand to one of the sport’s pioneers. An online auction that opened Saturday, Oct. 25, features autographed memorabilia from numerous NASCAR Sprint Cup Series drivers and will benefit the Sam Ard Fund. Ard, the 1983-84 NASCAR Nationwide Series champion, is battling Alzheimer’s disease and financial woes. His wife, Jo, is in a battle of her own, against a degenerative eye disease. Last Saturday at Atlanta Motor Speedway, another two-time NASCAR Nationwide Series champion, Kevin Harvick (2001 and 2008), donated a van to Ard’s son, Robert, for conveyance to his father.
