Inaugural half marathon and 5K to help patients hoping for a donor and a marrow transplant

CONCORD, N.C. – Lowe’s Motor Speedway will put its racing cars in park on Sunday, Nov. 22 to make room for the inaugural Hendrick Marrow Program Half Marathon and 5K Walk/Run.

Registration will open at 6:30 a.m. The half marathon will start at 8 a.m. and the 5K will begin at 8:30 a.m. Both races, sponsored by, will begin and end in Lowe’s Motor Speedway’s Lot Z. The event will then move less than one mile to the Hendrick Motorsports complex with an awards ceremony in Gatorade Victory Lane and the Pepsi Kids 100 Yard Dash.

Proceeds from this event will support the Hendrick Marrow Program, which rallies the racing community to add potential marrow donors to the Be The Match Registry® and help patients in need of a marrow transplant.

“I’m excited that participants will have the opportunity to support the Hendrick Marrow Program and take advantage of such a unique race course,” said Rick Hendrick, chairman and CEO of Hendrick Motorsports.  “The timing of the event is perfect; once the awards ceremony concludes, fans can go home and watch the NASCAR season finale from Homestead, Fl.”

The half marathon will take runners on one of the most exciting and unique courses in the nation. The race goes down the zMAX Dragway, loops the perimeter of The Dirt Track, crosses the pedestrian bridge and will make a lap around the famous Lowe’s Motor Speedway before running through Morehead Farms Campground and returning to Lot Z.
