THE NASCAR FOUNDATION AND WARD BURTON WILDLIFE FOUNDATION TEAM UP IN MARTINSVILLE
NASCAR Day Pins at Martinsville Speedway Will Help Support Local Driver’s Charity
CHARLOTTE, NC (March 26, 2009) - The NASCAR Foundation is proud to announce its partnership with the Ward Burton Wildlife Foundation (WBWF) for NASCAR Day 2009. NASCAR Day is an annual celebration of the NASCAR spirit and the sixth-annual observance will be held this year on Friday, May 15th. NASCAR fans, corporations, schools and organizations across the country are encouraged to donate $5 and all participants will receive a collectible 2009 NASCAR Day lapel pin for their donation.
This weekend, several volunteers from the Ward Burton Wildlife Foundation will be out at Martinsville Speedway with The NASCAR Foundation collecting $5 donations for the 2009 pins. The booth is located in front of The NASCAR Foundation hauler in the midway. Burton’s foundation will receive a portion of the proceeds collected at the track. The WBWF will use the proceeds from this fundraiser to fund their Wounded Warrior program and to hire local college interns for the summer.
The Ward Burton Wildlife Foundation is a fast growing education-oriented organization dedicated to promoting wildlife conservation, habitat enhancement, and proper stewardship of America's natural resources. The foundation is dedicated to preserving the natural environment for future generations.
"Preserving our natural resources has become a passion that was instilled in me by my father and my grandfather," said Burton. "Although we formed the Ward Burton Wildlife Foundation in Virginia, we realize that across North America, people are becoming more aware of the need for protecting and preserving habitat and wildlife resources. Our goal is to take that message nationwide, working with volunteers willing to help our program. We believe that it is the inherent responsibility of all sportsmen and conservationists to preserve wildlife, habitat, traditions, and values that we hold so dearly."
Fans not traveling to the track this weekend can help the Ward Burton Wildlife Foundation fulfill its mission to conserve America’s land and wildlife through wise stewardship. Fans are encouraged to visit www.twbwf.org to make a minimum $5 donation for their NASCAR Day pin.
